Almost done packing, lots of cleaning left to do, work (well it will be a long Monday & Tuesday to try and get everything done). Other than that we are almost ready to go.
Here is what the plan of our trip consists of, I am sure it will change at some point, but it is a start:
Wednesday we will leave Grand Rapids and get to DC. We leave DC later in the evening, which should make for good sleeping on the plane. We leave at about 9:30 pm. You guys will get up and go to work on Thursday and we will still be on the plane. Then you will work all morning and have lunch, we will still be on the same plane. Shortly after your lunch we will land in Addis Ababa. The capital city in Ethiopia. It will be around 8:00 pm (their time) when we land in Addis. We will go through the typical customs, get baggage, etc. We will meet up with Alemu who is our director and travel coordinator for the week.
Friday morning we will jump into a vehicle and head out to Alaba. This is where Jakob Jibril was born. We will tour the country; which includes a boat ride to see Hippos, Crocs & Anacondas!! On Sunday we will return back to Addis Ababa. (mostly likely we will not be able to post while in Alaba). Alaba is 8 hours away and is pretty rural.
Monday morning will go to the orphanage to pick up Jakob. We will be able to spend the day just hanging out getting to know him. Tuesday & Wednesday we will tour around Addis Ababa. Thursday we will go the Embassy for Jakob's embassy appointment. Friday we pick up his Visa and Saturday night we fly home. Well Sat will be about 2:00pm your time, when we depart. So again you will have dinner on Sat, sleep Sat night, have breakfast on Sunday and we will still be on the same plane! Gotta love Air Travel!!!
Sunday we plan to arrive into Grand Rapids airport at about 4:30 pm. We have a tight connection in DC, so if we miss it, we will post the new arrival time on the blog on Sunday. Friends and Family will be at the airport (everyone is invited).

I get so excited. Every time I think of you coming down the ramp at GRR, I start to cry. Be prepared - it will be an emotional scene. Thanks for the itinerary - I will have to print it out and keep it with me always.
